In 2021 and 2022, the Iowa Farm to School and Early Care Coalition was awarded a Farm to Early Care and Education Implementation Grant (FIG) from the Association of State Public Health Nutritionists. One strategy within this broader grant focuses on supporting child nutrition and local food markets via a Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) incentive grant, called “Local Food Makes Cents: For Iowa Kids and Farmers.”
In 2021, the coalition awarded close to $30,000 to participating early childhood education providers across Iowa. In 2022, the coalition will award $20,000 to sites who successfully spent funding through the 2021 pilot grant.
